Gold Coast Dining Optionunities Offer Something for Everyone
Gold Coast dining opportunities has the flavours to satisfy your cravings no matter what kinds of cuisine you are in the mood for. Gold Coast has loads of fabulous places to eat, drink, and chill out. You may be surprised to learn about all the award winning Gold Coast restaurants in your favorite parts of the city offering all kinds of international and local dishes to try. Here’s a quick tour, arranged by the menu type. Asian Although Lauxes in Broadbeach is billed as “International Cuisine”, there is a definite Japanese influence. Located across from Jupiter’s Casino, you will want to call ahead for a reservation. The restaurant is often fully booked. If you are in the mood for authentic Malaysian cuisine, Kampung Maylay Restaurant on Slayter Avenue would be the suggested Gold Coast dining destination. The restaurant serves soups, noodles, rice, seafood, meats and vegetarian selections and offers sultan or rajah banquets for large groups, all at affordable prices. The takeaway option is also available. While other Gold Coast restaurants serve delicious Asian food, East and Donto Sapporo transport you to another culture. East Restaurant is located on Surf Paradise, but from the time you enter the door, you will feel as though you are taking a tour of Asia. The executive chef, Robert Newton is originally from Singapore. He has enhanced the traditional Asian cooking techniques, with his own “contemporary” interpretations. Donto Sapporo is one of the only Gold Coast restaurants to boast traditional Tokyo seating and décor. Only 5 minutes from Surfers Paradise, this top Gold Coast dining establishment is popular with tourists and locals, alike.
European A number of Gold Coast restaurants offer European cuisine. The Fellini on the Broadwater at Marina Mirage serves up the best of Italy. Little Volare on Frank Street specializes in a delicious seafood concoction, simmered in white wine, garlic, fresh herbs and Napoli sauce. You must try their Sicilian salsa. Domanis Café at the corner of Main Beach’s Teddler and Woodroffe Avenues serves traditional and modern Italian dishes in a relaxed alfresco setting. Champagne Brasserie serves French at Broadbeach. Alto Cucina serves Mediterranean cuisine just down the street. But, if you want award winning European food, the Gold Coast dining suggestions are 1two3 and Absynthe. Winner of the I Love Food Awards and voted Australia’s favorite Mediterranean restaurant in 2009, 1two3 is as unique as its name. It’s located in the Phoenician Tower East at Surf Parade. Two of the house specialties are Spanish paella and osso bucco. Absynthe was voted Queensland’s Best Fine Dining Restaurant in 2006 and Best regional restaurant in 2007. The menu is contemporary French-Australian, but it is the wine list that attracts many guests, offering over 1000 internationally recognized wines from around the world.
Modern Australian By far, most of the Gold Coast restaurants serve up modern Australian cuisine. If you are visiting from another country, you may be unfamiliar with what that means. Seafood, kangaroo steaks, Terrarossa rumpsteak, forest mushroom pie, carmelised eschallots, baked quince, Bowne mango, passion fruit soufflés are among the menu selections in modern Australian cuisine. Popular establishments serving this menu daily include Oskars on Burleigh, Versace Vanitas at Broadwater and Room 81 at Sofitel Broadbeach, Dont forget to try out the excellent value meals at the pubs. This is by no means an all-inclusive list of the Gold Coast dining establishments, just a few of my favorites.
