While on holiday, we had a chance to watch the popular car race, the "Indy 300" Now known as (SuperGP). There was a fabulous party atmosphere in town. The high rise balconies overlooking the track were packed with people dancing and drinking and more spectators spilled onto the streets and along the Gold Coast beaches and in the heart of Surfers itself. Fun, excitement, laughter and sunshine was the order of the day. What a scene! (Read more about the "SuperGP" races in Events section.) There is a great range of accommodation available in
Surfers Paradise,
everything from budget motels, flats to luxury Resorts. We stayed in a lovely, self-contained apartment in a Resort situated on the esplanade complete with everything we needed and at a very affordable rate. Night life: Wow, the streets light up with a mixture of nightclubs and pubs playing live music and full of happypatrons, hell bent on having a great time. We went dancing almost every night where we enjoyed the music in the cocktail bars but the great atmosphere at Melbas is hard to beat. The streets around Surfers are filled with a variety of boutiques, high-end designer shops, day spas, fashion houses and art galleries. You'll find Louis Vuitton and Prada here along with specialty boutiques featuring one-of-a-kind treasures.
